We know that the Ford Bronco is a very capable off-roader, and this video is another demonstration of its abilities.
The Hell’s Gate section of the Hell’s Revenge trail in Moab, Utah is a treacherous piece of rock that can quickly uncover the shortcomings of any off-roader. The Bronco has no problem driving up the trail, prompting two-time King of the Hammers champion Loren Healy to recently attempt an ascent of Hell’s Gate… in reverse.
This clip was recently shared to Facebook by Vaughn Gittin Jr and shows Healy easing the Bronco slowly up the slope. It takes the experienced off-road racer three minutes to get up the slope, an impressive feat considering the obvious visibility challenges that come with driving in reverse.

The Bronco was fitted with new Nitto off-road tires, and there’s no indication that it was modified in any way prior to this adventure.
There’s no doubt that Hell’s Gate isn’t something that should be attempted by the inexperienced as the rock can easily damage a vehicle. However, with someone well-versed in off-roading behind the wheel, you don’t actually need the latest and greatest like the Bronco to tackle it. In fact, Kia made it up the slope in the 2018 Sorento as part of a promotional campaign for the SUV – although going forward instead of backward.
