Genesis has just launched in Europe and Autogefühl have had the opportunity to already put the G80 through its paces.
The Genesis G80 has already proven itself to be a legitimate rival to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5-Series, and Audi A6 in overseas markets but buyers in Europe who are used to the Germans will arguably be harder to win over.
Much of the review is focused on the interior of the G80 and that’s fitting as it is arguably the area of the car that’s the most important. Immediately, the reviewer is impressed with the fit and finish of the cabin and says it certainly feels like it is up to the level of its European rivals. The presenter is a big fan of the wooden accents found throughout and is also very fond of the 14.5-inch infotainment system. However, he wasn’t such a big fan of the rotary dial that can be used to control the touchscreen.

The G80 also gets top marks in the second row. Space is comparable to the Germans and everything feels high-quality, including the vanity mirrors in the ceiling.
Then it’s time to drive the thing. The G80 featured in this review was equipped with a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine that produces 296 hp. While this engine doesn’t provide the same level of performance as the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 available in other markets, it is still more than suitable for a vehicle like the G80, as we discovered in our own review.
