GM Defense has unveiled a one-off version of its Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) powered solely by electricity and simply dubbed the All Electric Concept Vehicle.
Giving the All Electric Concept Vehicle its go is GM’s eCrate electric powertrain that features an electric motor with 200 hp and 266 lb-ft (361 Nm) of torque that gets its juice from a 60 kWh, 400-volt battery. According to GM Authority, the electric motor is mounted up front and drives the rear wheels but it can be switched to four-wheel drive mode on the fly.

Just like the standard ISV, the All Electric Concept Vehicle is based on the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 pickup truck, so the front seating area and wheelbase are identical. However, the All Electric Concept Vehicle features a bed at the rear that results in it being five inches longer than the ISV and limits its seating capacity from nine to five persons. The aforementioned 60 kWh battery is mounted under the bed and provides a range between 70 and 150 miles (112-241 km) on a single charge.
“There were no requirements to build anything of the sort,” GM Defense spokesperson Sonia Taylor told Motor1 in a recent statement. “However, we wanted to show our Army customer what was possible in a short amount of time. We took it off-road at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Rock City Campground on Monday, and it performed exceptionally well and did the same course as the ISV which included a steep muddy and rocky hill climb.”
General Motors hasn’t said if it will bring an electric version of the ISV into production.
