Gordon Murray Automotive has yet to start customer deliveries of the T.50 hypercar and already, the car manufacturer has confirmed that it is working on a second supercar that will share many of its components with the T.50.

The car is currently known as Project Two and will be underpinned by a distinctive carbon fiber structure that uses a similar construction to the T.50. Evo notes that the architecture of the T.50 couldn’t be used because the new supercar will be a two seater, whereas the T.50 has a unique three-seat layout, and won’t adopt the latter’s expensive ground-effect fan but will have a simpler aero setup instead.

Still, the Project Two will share its basic powertrain with the T.50, which uses a Cosworth-developed, high-revving 3.9-liter V12 coupled to a six-speed manual transmission powering the rear wheels. It remains unclear if the engine will be detuned from the T.50, where it pumps out 641 hp at a screaming 11,500 rpm. The British automaker has also yet to reveal if it will have the same mild-hybrid system as the T.50.

In any case, don’t expect the car to launch for quite some time. In fact, as it will be built in the same facility where the T.50 and the T.50s will be made, GMA probably won’t start manufacturing the Project Two until their production has ended, something that’s not expected to happen until the beginning of 2023.

Confirmation of the Project Two comes shortly after Gordon Murray Automotive announced a £300 million ($423 million) investment that will allow it to create “a highly flexible EV skateboard designed to form the basis of a B-segment vehicle.”
