It appears that Ferrari has already allowed a select few to jump behind the wheel of the 812 Competizione, as a video from MotorsportMagazine shows it in action at the track.
Unfortunately, there’s no background info on the event of the Prancing Horse’s new supercar, but this is a good opportunity to watch it eat apexes like few exotics can, while screaming its V12 heart out at up to 9,500 rpm, the maximum engine speed.
The 6.5-liter naturally aspirated power unit delivers a staggering 830 PS (818 HP / 614 kW) at 9,250 rpm and 692 Nm (510 lb-ft) of torque at 7,000 rpm. That’s a healthy boost over the regular 812 Superfast’s 800 PS (789 HP / 588 kW) at 8,500 rpm, though torque has gone down a bit from 718 Nm (530 lb-ft) at 7,000 rpm. The seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission has been refined too. From nought to 100 km/h (0-62 mph), the 812 Competizione needs 2.85 seconds, whereas at 340 km/h (211 mph), top speed is identical to the regular model.
Described as being “the ultimate expression of Ferrari’s concept of an extreme front-engined Berlinetta”, which “hones the characteristics of the critically-acclaimed 812 Superfast to a level never seen before”, the 812 Competizione is a limited production model. Only 999 units of the coupe and 599 of the Competizione A targa models will be built, and even if you could afford one, you will have to start searching on the used car market soon, because all of them are said to have been spoken for.
