The car you’re looking at will probably never be built but if Porsche was interested in creating a vehicle similar in size and proportions to the Taycan but with the practicality of a Cayenne, it could look something like this.

The project was created by automotive designer Jiawei Lin who is a recent graduate of the ArtCenter College of Design and who has had internships with Volvo Cars USA, Honda America and Haitec Automobile. Lin, who completed this particular study for his thesis project, wanted to create a high-riding, four-door electric sedan that could effectively replace multiple models currently in the German automaker’s line-up.

In creating the car, Lin took inspiration from iconic Porsche models like the 911 and the 1966 906, incorporating elements of their front and rear fascias into something much more modern. The front of the car is particularly interesting and develops Porsche’s current design language with headlights that feature four little LED daytime running lights each. Elsewhere, it features suicide-style rear doors to make ingress and egress that much easier for rear-seat occupants.

Other key elements of the vehicle’s design include a panoramic glass roof and a rear spoiler that opens up and extends outwards just like the one in the Panamera. Also found at the rear are simple LED taillights connected with an LED light bar, making for a design not dissimilar to the Taycan.

Lin has imagined the vehicle with electric motors at all four wheels and being fitted with a Level 4 autonomous driving system. As such, the owner could let the vehicle do its own driving whenever they so wished, while its high-riding would make it perfect for off-road adventures.
