The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 will have 300 miles (482 km) of range when it launches in the U.S.
While the South Korean car manufacturer won’t actually unveil the Ioniq 5 in U.S.-specification until May 24, it has indicated that it will have 300 miles of EPA-estimated range. That’s interesting as the Ioniq 5 is also rated at up to 300 miles of range on the more forgiving WLTP cycle used in Europe.

In most markets, the Ioniq 5 will be offered with a choice of either a 58 kWh or 72.6 kWh battery pack but in the U.S., it is understood the flagship battery’s capacity will actually be increased to 77.4 kWh. It seems likely that the 300-mile range figure will be for single-motor, rear-wheel-drive models with this 77.4 kWh battery pack.
Other variants of the Ioniq 5 will be offered for U.S. shoppers. This will include the same flagship variant as overseas markets that features two electric motors that combine to produce 302 hp and 446 lb-ft (605 Nm) of torque, allowing the EV to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.2 seconds, although these figures could change slightly due to the increased capacity of the U.S.-spec battery pack.
It’s not just the styling and range that the Ioniq 5 has going for it as it also features 800-volt charging capabilities. This means that when plugged into a 350 kW charger, the car’s battery can be topped up from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.
