The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is the first hybrid from the Italian car manufacturer that you can actually walk into a dealership and buy, unlike the limited-run, invitation-only LaFerrari. It is also capable of some seriously impressive performance, as Jay Leno recently discovered.

The SF90 Stradale featured in this episode of Jay Leno’s Garage is owned by prolific car collector David Lee and Leno immediately says that he is a big fan of the design of the hybrid hypercar. Soon after, he gets a quick tour of the interior and once again, appears quite fond of what Ferrari has done with it, simplifying things by removing an excess of buttons and switches and using digital displays and touchscreens prominently.

One of the most intriguing and least appreciated things about the SF90 Stradale is the positioning of its 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8. Sure, it is mid-engined like so many other supercars on the market, but what is remarkable about it is just how low the engine has been mounted in a bid to lower the center of gravity. According to Leno, the positioning of the engine is “brilliant”, as is the rest of the technology that Ferrari has packed into the supercar.

Towards the end of the video, Leno heads out onto the streets near Los Angeles to see what the car is capable of. In a straight line, Ferrari claims the SF90 can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 2.5 seconds so it’s little surprise that the former TV host is blown away by the performance. He also says that the car doesn’t feel like it is all-wheel drive, which to him is yet another positive.
