Channel your inner Mark Whalberg and become “Invincible” because, just like the Philadelphia Eagles in the ’70s, Lamborghini is hosting open tryouts for a position on its race team. Sort of. The position will actually be as Lamborghini Official Sim Driver but that’s still pretty cool.
Lamborghini is hosting the second season of “The Real Race,” which it launched during lockdown last year. It attracted more than 2,500 entries from 109 countries around the world, so the Italian automaker decided to host it again.
The competition will be broken down into three regions: Europe, America and Asia. The sim racers will compete in traditional Grand Prix-length races as well as in three endurance races and will be awarded points for their performances along the way.

The tournament will host 10 rounds and will run from June to November, with each event lasting a week. From Monday to Friday, there will be open qualifiers that anyone can join. The top 40 qualifiers will be invited to a closed qualifier hosted on Saturday. The top 20 drivers from that session will then get an invite to The Real Race on Sunday.
When all is said and done, the top driver from each region will be invited for an all-expenses-paid trip to Lamborghini headquarters. There, they will receive a VIP tour of the factory, will meet Squadra Corse drivers, and will drive a real Lambo on the track. From the three finalists, one will be given the opportunity to be employed as Lamborghini’s official sim driver for 2022.
The competition is being run on the Assetto Corsa Competizione simulation racing game and all sim racers will drive the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO. Tracks will include Monza, Laguna Seca, Kyalami, Zandvoort, Catalunya, Silverstone, and Misano Adriatico, while the Endurance races will take place at Suzuka, Nurburgring, and Spa Francorchamps. The races will be broadcasted on Squadra Corse’s YouTube channel.
