Touring Superleggera will unveil its first-ever mid-engine vehicle in June in order to celebrate its 95th anniversary.
The coachbuilder says that the vehicle will be a graceful two-seat coupe and a distinctive addition to its range of vehicles.
“Sharing many design elements with its recent Touring predecessors, as well as their elegant flow and balance of proportions, the design is both a clear evolution and an enhancement of Touring’s contemporary front-engined Aero family, as exemplified by the Disco Volante Coupé and Spyder and last year’s Aero 3,” said Touring Superleggera in a statement. “This will be a truly fitting example to carry forward the Touring philosophy into the mid-engine genre.”

Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera has been around since 1926 and was founded by Felice Bianchi Anderloni and Gaetano Ponzoni. The company came to prominence in the mid-century before the move away from body-on-frame vehicles.
The trademark, though, was kept alive and in 2006 the company started making vehicles again, such as the Disco Volante that came out in 2012. Today, it produces the Aero 3, which is based on a Ferrari F12, among others.
What its new, mid-engine vehicle will be based on (or even called) remains to be seen, but it’s likely to be Italian. Touring Superleggera says it’s in the final stages of production and will be unveiled in June, before being displayed around the world at events like The Quail, The Bridge, Salon Prive, and the Zoute GP.
