Top Gear presenter Chris Harris is as well known for his love of Porsches as well as his fondness for turning a set of rear tires into a fog that would make a Californian wildfire look inconsequential.
Which makes him the perfect host for this video examining a very special collection of modern, and not so modern, classics currently up for auction on Collecting Cars. Well, that and the fact he has a stake in the auction site.
Known as the Leonard Collection, presumably after the consignor, the list of cars reads like a bucket-list of must drives for hardcore Porsche fans. There are old-time favorites including a fairly humble 1971 911 T, a ’73 2.7 Carrera RS finished in a striking purple that was once the property of Jamiroquai frontman and car obsessive Jay Kay, and its less well known 1974 successor.
Porsche’s 1980s and ‘90s period is amply represented by a 1988 Carrera Club Sport, a 1989 Turbo fitted with the rare and desirable G50 five-speed ‘box, a 1995 993 RS and no less than three examples of the 964 RS, one of which has covered an incredible 164 km (102 miles) from new.

There are also plenty of cars for fans of newer water-cooled 911s to drool over. Take your pick from a 2004 GT3 RS, a 2010 Sport Classic, a 2011 Speedster, a 2012 GT3 RS 4.0 and a 911 R with just 421 miles on the clock, and a 991 GT2 RS. And let’s not forget to mention the stunning Fayence Yellow V10-powered Carrera GT.
Don’t like Porsches? See a doctor. But while you’re waiting, cast an eye over a pair of 1995 Ferrari F512 Ms and a 2004 360 Challenge Stradale. And for BMW fans, the Leonard Collection includes rarities like the Z8 roadster and a 1987 E28 M5.
And this is just a taste of what’s on offer. The auction listings are live now, so if you see something in Chris’s vid that catches your eye and you happen to have found $500,000 down the side of the couch, you’ve still got until Sunday, May 16 to get your bids in.
