On paper, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Coupe is undeniably quicker than the Lexus RC F, but how do the two stack against each other in cold, damp conditions?
In this video from Motor over in Australia, the Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe was rolling on a set of performance-focused Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires while the Lexus RC F had Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires which aren’t as good for lapping a dry circuit but are better in the wet.
Then there’s the power. Whereas the Lexus RC F has a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 pumping out 472 hp and 395 lb-ft (535 Nm) of torque, the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 of the C 63 S muscles out 503 hp and, more impressively, 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. Both cars send power exclusively to the rear wheels.

In the first drag race held between the pair, the Lexus is able to put its power to the ground much more effectively than the Mercedes. In fact, the German coupe sits there struggling for grip off the line, allowing the Lexus to sprint off into a lead. While the Mercedes-AMG does start to reel in the Lexus towards the end of the race, it simply can’t catch up. A second race was also held between the pair and once again, it was the Lexus that came away victorious.
During its tests, the Aussie publication recorded a best 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time of 5.2 seconds and a quarter-mile of 13.3 seconds with the Lexus. By comparison, the Mercedes needed 5.7 seconds to hit 62 mph and ran down the quarter-mile in 13.6 seconds.
