Few production cars on earth are as valuable as the McLaren F1 and as such, washing one requires a huge amount of care.
A beautiful F1 finished in black was recently brought to Topaz Detailing in the UK where the company’s expert detailers set about making it look just as clean as it was when it first left the factory.

First up, the car is pressure washed with water before each of the wheels are cleaned by hand. The entire car is then sprayed with a special formula of degreaser before a small brush is used to clean things like the exterior vents, badges, and lights. From there, the car is pressure washed once again before being covered in a thick layer of soap and rinsed yet again.
Topaz then washes the exterior of the iconic supercar with mitts that won’t scratch the car’s clear coat. It is then rinsed again before being dried with a microfiber towel. Now that it is clean, the car will be adorned with a paint protection film.
McLaren only ever built 106 examples of the F1 and in the last decade, prices have soared, so much so that low-mileage examples are now selling for in excess of $20 million. When you consider just how valuable the British supercar is, it shouldn’t come as any surprise as to why so much care is taken when washing and detailing one.
