If you go out to a British GT Championship race this year, you will notice a lot of McLarens, as the British company boasts more entries than any other manufacturer.
The car leading the race will, aptly, be the McLaren GT. Although it will only be the car’s second season in the role of safety car, it will be the automaker’s sixth season of partnership with the racing series.
“We are delighted to continue our official Safety Car partnership with SRO and the Intelligent Money British GT Championship, which continues to be one of the world’s most competitive and thrilling GT championships,” said Ian Morgan, director of McLaren Customer Racing.

McLaren is also entering four drivers in the British GT Championship’s GT4 class as part of its Driver Development Program (DDP). The drivers racing in 2021 are Michael Benyahia, Alain Valente, Harry Hayek, and Katie Milner who will share a pair of 570S GT4s.
Last year, the DDP drivers also raced in 570S GT4s and ended up taking three pole positions and four victories in their class. Mia Flewitt and Euan Hankey won the Pro-Am Cup, while Jordan Collard and Patrik Mathiesen, in McLaren‘s other car, were runners up.
In all, there will be seven McLarens racing in the GT4 and GT3 classes. The favorites in GT3 are father-and-son team Stewart and Lewis Proctor, who are running a 720S GT3. Last year, they clinched two overall victories and five pole positions and were firmly among the leaders in the championship title fight.
The first race in the series will take place on the weekend of May 22/23.
