Just imagine the scenario: you’re driving down the highway when all of a sudden, you notice a semi-truck traveling in the opposite direction veer out of its lane and start to cross into the grass median, heading right towards you. Before long, that truck has sped through the median and is now just a split second away from slamming into you. It would be a pretty scary experience, right?
Well, that’s exactly what happened to the driver of a minivan near Lostant, Illinois on April 21, 2021 and despite the driver’s brush with death, they managed to keep their cool.

This dashcam footage recently shared to Facebook shows a massive white semi veer out of its lane and cross directly into the path of the van driver. Its driver reacts instantly and veers to the right, just barely avoiding being T-boned by the semi. It is an extraordinarily close call and shows just how important it is to remain vigilant while behind the wheel, even if you’re crusing on a highway.
What’s particularly intriguing about this near miss is that the driver of the red van didn’t pull over to see if the truck driver was okay and instead continued to drive down the road.
Fortunately for the driver of the semi, the truck remained upright when it slid to a stop on the side of the road and didn’t flip over.
