The world is going crazy again for six pals from New York as the much anticipated “Friends: The Reunion” premieres tonight on HBO Max. Even Porsche decided to get in on the fun with an amusing Instagram post.

The post (first noticed by Motor1) features a pile of boxes with a Porsche car cover draped over it. The gag is a reference to Season 6 Episode 5 in which Joey (played by Matt Leblanc of Top Gear fame) finds a set of Porsche keys. When he discovers that people are impressed when they believe him to be the owner of a Porsche, he does everything he can to trick people into thinking he owns a Porsche.

Covered from head to toe in Porsche swag, he even wraps a pile of cardboard boxes in a car cover, telling people he’d show it to them, “but he just tucked her in for the night.” That is, until someone catching a football flies into the cover revealing the car to actually be cunningly stacked boxes.

It’s a clever reference and one of a few that Porsche could have chosen from since the show’s writers seemed to like the brand, giving one to the Ross (David Schwimmer) and Monica’s (Courtney Cox) dad, too.

If you really want to take this gag to its logical conclusion, though, you shouldn’t just buy the car cover for a 996 911 ($383.40), you should also buy the full Joey Tribbiani outfit, too. Like the show, ’90s styles are popular again so we’ve tried to recreate Joey’s look for you.

Although Porsche has gotten more subtle lately and taken its crest off a lot of its clothes, a reasonable approximation of all the items seen in the episode can still be had. Starting at the top, you can buy the Porsche Crest Cap ($40.00) though I couldn’t find one in red. That’s okay, because although the fanny pack (officially the X-Body Bag, which somehow sounds worse to me, but it costs $110.00) is only available in black, it will at least match your hat like Joey’s does.

You can also rock Porsche sweatpants for $275 and you can get a bomber-style jacket for $354, though I couldn’t find one with buttons or Joey’s silver sleeves. Kind of disappointing, frankly. And to make up for the dearth of Porsche logos, I’m picking the $65 Crest T-Shirt that features an enormous Porsche logo across the chest. That oughta convince people.

You can also get driving gloves for $150, though they only sell women’s sizes. But hey, who’s going to know? Speaking of extremities, although it’s not made explicit that his shoes are from Porsche, why not get yourself a pair of sneaks while you’re shopping? The RCT Cell Tex sneakers are made by Puma and cost $310.

All in, this look plus the car cover would cost you $1,687.40 before considering taxes and shipping. Kind of seems like an expensive way to lie to women.
