President Joe Biden has been a stalwart supporter of electric vehicles and his latest move may be to electrify The Beast.
According to cnet, Eamon Javers, CNBC’s senior Washington correspondent, quoted White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki saying that electrifying the presidential limousine is “certainly something the President has talked about and is an objective for him.”
Although the details of the presidential limo are a closely guarded secret, the limousine, known as The Beast, reportedly weighs between 15,000 and 20,000 lbs. Consequently, it’s based on a GM commercial truck chassis despite being officially branded as a Cadillac.

An electric beast? On AF1, WH press secretary Jen Psaki was asked if President Biden will electrify the WH vehicle fleet, including the presidential limo known as "the Beast." She said: "That's certainly something the President has talked about and is an objective for him."

It was recently revealed that the Hummer EV will weigh over 9,000 lbs, which would seemingly make it a reasonable basis on which to build an electric Beast. That’s provided that it can support the extra thousands of pounds of armor and life-support equipment required to make it safe enough for the Secret Service’s liking.
The term “electrified” could, though, simply imply that the White House wants to make The Beast a hybrid. It would likely be in Cadillac’s best interest, however, to do whatever it can to make the limousine electric. Besides, as we found out this week, the president really is a fan of all-electric vehicles.
Cadillac has made many presidential limousines over the years and has a deal with the Secret Service. Under Donald Trump, the contract totaled $15.8 million and covered roughly a dozen vehicles. It took Cadillac roughly a year from the inauguration to deliver the former president’s limo.
