We have heard rumors that Renault is considering retiring the Scenic and Espace, as well as the Talisman mid-size saloon and estate, since last year, and a new report suggests that this will indeed be the case, at least for the two minivans.
Without quoting any sources, Autoblog.it states that the Scenic and Espace will be dropped from the French automaker’s lineup “soon”. Nevertheless, the designations are understood to survive, albeit in a different way.

The Italian website believes that the Scenic nomenclature might be used on the seven-seater version of the next generation Megane. The crossover, which was previewed by the Megane eVision concept, will launch next year as an electric vehicle, and the Megane Scenic or simply Scenic could follow it shortly or in 2023, packing an electric powertrain too.
As for the Espace, Renault could use the nameplate on an MPV variant of the Trafic. Opel and sister brand Vauxhall did the same to the Zafira, which was discontinued yet the name was added to the passenger version of the Vivaro. If true, then this model will take on the likes of the upcoming Volkswagen T7 Multivan and will be a more budget-friendly alternative to the premium Mercedes-Benz V-Class.
We would take this rumor with the proverbial pinch of salt until we have more solid info or Renault makes an announcement. Nevertheless, we have reached out to them and will be updating this post when (or if) they reply.
