Rivian has briefly delayed customer deliveries of the all-electric R1T pickup truck but has confirmed that it will reach the hands of buyers in July.
The EV startup had originally planned to commence deliveries of the R1T Launch Edition in June but due to delays on shipping containers, the global chip shortage, and final tweaks being made prompted it to delay deliveries until July. Nevertheless, the R1T will still be the first electric pickup truck to hit the streets.

Rivian expects to complete all deliveries of R1T Launch Edition models by spring 2022. Deliveries of the R1S Launch Edition are also scheduled to commence in August and once all deliveries of Launch Edition models are finished, the automaker will turn its attention to the other variants.
Separately, Rivian has announced that it will start its drive program in August. This will allow customers to schedule at-home test drives or attend a tour event where they can check out the R1T and R1S up close. The first cities included in the tour are Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Detroit, and Seattle.
A handful of updates have also been made to the various packages offered for the R1T and R1S. For example, the Off-Road Upgrade is now optional on Launch Edition and Adventure Package vehicles, rather than being standard. Rivian has also confirmed that all models will come with an onboard air compressor that was previously only available with the Off-Road Upgrade. Customers can now also order the Rivian Adventure Gear upgrade that adds a rooftop tent, cargo bars, and a camp kitchen with a 30-piece kitchen set.
