With waitlists for Suzuki’s adorable Jimny off-roader in Australia getting longer as a result of high demand and disruptions in productions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, prices for used models are growing.
According to DMARGE, there are 47 second-hand Jimny GJs for sale on Carsales in the country and all are selling for more than the base price of AU$28,490 ($21,974 USD).
The cheapest Jimny GJ the outlet could find was a beige base model from 2019 with 41,000 km (25,000 miles). Even with that many miles on it, the SUV was selling for AU$34,000 ($26,224 USD), or roughly 20% more than its MSRP.

And prices only go up from there. The most expensive Jimny the outlet found was a beige 2020 model. With just 1,600 km (994 miles) on the odometer and a few optional extras, you’d expect it to be worth more than the example above. And you’d be right because it was selling for AU$50,000 ($38,564 USD).
As DMARGE points out, that’s pretty stunning appreciation for a current model from a value-oriented brand. Why, even Jeep fans would be jealous of that appreciation.
The Jimny has been well received thanks to its cute looks and capable platform. However, as a result of tightening emissions, it was pulled from the European market, although it’s coming back to the UK as a commercial vehicle.
