The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport with a Top Safety Pick+ rating.
This is the agency’s highest safety rating, and to qualify for it, vehicles need to ace all six crash-worthiness tests, such as the small overlap front on the driver’s and passenger’s side, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restrains.
Since last year, all cars tested by the IIHS need to have ‘good’ or ‘acceptable’ headlights as standard on all trim levels in order to nab the top trophy. The 2021 Bronco Sport impressed in this category too, and it also did so in the standard and optional front crash prevention system, both in the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations.

“As the Bronco of small SUVs, Bronco Sport was engineered to help our customers get out and adventure, both on- and off-road, and to do so safely”, said the auto firm’s chief product platform and operations officer, Hau Thai-Tang. “This IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating validates that comment.”
Launched for the 2021 model year, the Bronco Sport slots between the Escape and Bronco in Ford’s U.S. lineup. It offers seating for 5, has standard 4×4 and a 65.2 cu-ft (1,846 liters) cargo capacity with the rear seats folded down.
The 2021 Bronco Sport range kicks off with the Base and continues with the Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands and First Edition. Pricing starts at $26,820 and goes up to at least $38,500 for the First Edition.
