The facelifted 2022 Genesis G70 doesn’t just look better than the older model but it also seems to be even better to drive.
Genesis sells entry-level versions of the updated G70 with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 252 hp and 260 lb-ft, but customers after more power can opt for a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. Both of these engines are paired exclusively to an eight-speed automatic transmission and suit the compact premium sedan very well. However, it is unfortunate the updated G70 didn’t receive the new 2.5-liter four-cylinder and 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 found in the facelifted Kia Stinger and other Genesis models.

During a recent test, The Straight Pipes had the opportunity to test out the flagship G70 with the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6. Painted in a shade of blue, the G70 looks distinctive and certainly stands out on the road compared to some of its rivals like the BMW M340i, Acura TLX Type S, and Lexus IS350.
Both reviewers appear very impressed with how the new G70 handles. In fact, they suggest that it feels similar to the M340i, high praise considering that the BMW is more expensive. They say that the steering and brakes are excellent and that if you want, the G70 oversteers really well, despite the fact that the example tested was equipped with an all-wheel drive system.
