The Ultimate Focus Is The Limited-Run, 345 HP RS500

Every Focus RS model is special but of them, it is perhaps the limited-edition RS500 that is the most desirable.

Ford introduced the RS500 in April 2010 as a final send-off to the Mk2 generation model. Capped at just 500 units, it was available only in matte black and now, one is being auctioned off.

The Focus RS500 in question will be auctioned off by RM Sotheby’s during its sales event running from May 19-16 and is located in Karlskron, Germany. It has just under 51,000 km (~31,690 miles) on the clock and would be the perfect buy for any hot hatch enthusiast.

The listing states that this Focus RS500 was delivered new to Denmark and is a left-hand drive model. It has been upgraded with a KW Clubsport coilover suspension and will be handed over to its new owner with all the original suspension components. The timing belt was replaced in March 2020 and the car will be delivered with its original owners’ manual and service booklet.

Like the standard Mk2 Focus RS, the RS500 is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine but it has been comprehensively modified so it now pumps out 345 hp and 340 lb-ft (460 Nm) of torque between 2,500 and 4,500 rpm, all of which is sent through the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. Among the changes made to the car to achieve this extra grunt are a larger air-to-air intercooler, a larger air filter box, larger diameter exhaust downpipe, an uprated fuel pump, and updated engine software.
