The new Land Rover Defender has proven to be incredibly popular among enthusiasts and regular consumers alike. One artist decided to carve one out of a solid block of wood.
We’ve featured some of Woodworking Art’s work before, but this Defender 110 might just be his best creation yet. Like his other models, this one displays incredible attention to detail, but it has a few things that set it apart even more.

On the outside, the SUV uses a darker wood for things like the scuff plates, windows, and sunroof, which is a nice touch we haven’t seen before on Woodworking Art’s models. It also has tons of tiny details that could’ve easily been overlooked, but he chose to include anyway. Things like the door handles, tow hooks, running boards, and windshield wipers, which really contribute to the overall realism.
As for things that function, the most notable would have to be the doors. All four of them, plus the side-opening trunk gate, open to reveal a full interior complete with seats, a dashboard, door cards, a center console, and a steering wheel. Under the opening hood lies an incredibly detailed engine bay.

Other working components include the steering and the suspension, and to accomplish that, a separate chassis piece needed to be made. Ironically, that means this model actually has something the real Defender doesn’t: body-on frame-construction, which was one of the main points of contention upon its release.
