If you were to simply look at the spec sheets of the Porsche Cayman GT4 and Cayman GTS 4.0, you could be excused for thinking that the two are pretty much the same. However, as Engineering Explained notes in this fascinating video, there is actually a lot that differentiates the two.
Much of this video focuses on the aerodynamics of the Cayman GT4 and compares them with the more affordable GTS 4.0. Of course, there are some pretty obvious differences, including the fact that the GT4 has a massive rear diffuser and a fixed rear wing. There are also some less obvious differences.

For example, the underside of the Cayman GT4’s front bumper has a dimpled surface, just like a golf ball. Porsche says this design allows air to more precisely follow the contours of the car, reducing drag. It’s an interesting feature and not something you’d know about unless you were to look beneath the GT4’s evocative bodywork.
During this video, Jason also highlights the differences in the engines of the two. Both feature a 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated six-cylinder engine but this engine isn’t related to the one of the Porsche 911 GT3. Instead, the Cayman’s 4.0-liter started out life as the twin-turbo 3.0-liter found in the Carrera, albeit no longer features those turbochargers and has had its displacement increased to 4.0-liters. The Cayman GT4’s engine is tuned to produce 414 hp and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) while the GTS 4.0’s engine is capped at 394 hp and 309 lb-ft (418 Nm).
