The new VW Golf GTI is a great hot hatch but like its predecessors, it has a restrained and subtle look not all that different from lesser Golf models. That’s where this bodykit from Prior Design comes in.
Showcased through a couple of renderings and on video, this bodykit designed by the tuning company completely transforms the look of the German hot hatch, so much so that it is just as striking as the Honda Civic Type R.

Modifications start at the front end where Prior Design has developed a revised front bumper with an elongated splitter. The most obvious changes made to the Golf GTI, however, are the fitment of flared front and rear wheel arches that provide the Golf GTI with a menacing new stance. Complementing these flared arches are aftermarket wheels and a lowered ride height.
Prior Design has continued the alterations at the rear with a new bumper, a spoiler stretching off from the roof, and an aggressive diffuser.
We think the bodykit makes the Golf R look a little like a rally car and that’s not such a bad thing.
There is no word on whether (and when) Prior Design intends to start producing this bodykit and if it does, just how much it will cost.
As a reminder, the standard Mk8 Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine pumping out 242 hp and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque. Those after more power can opt for the GTI Clubsport variant with 296 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm).
