A 1977 Porsche 934/5 is heading to auction in August and is expected to sell for between $1.3 million and $1.6 million.
This example is chassis no. 930 770 0951 and was the first of just 10 934/5 models that were built by the German car manufacturer. It made its racing debut at the 1977 12 Hours of Sebring and was entered by Brumos Racing. Driven by Peter Gregg and Jim Busby, it qualified first and finished third in the race.
After this race, Busby acquired the car and continued to race it throughout the 1977 season and placed second during a race at Laguna Seca. The following year, Busby parted ways with the 934/5, selling it to fellow racer Monte Shelton who updated it to 935 specification and continued to race it until 1983.

Since being retired from competitive racing, classic Porsche has passed through the hands of numerous collectors and recently underwent a restoration under the consignor’s care, returning it to its original specification and livery that it used during its 1977 Sebring debut.
The car has only been shown to the public once since its racing days, making a single appearance at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, the Gooding & Company listing reveals. This will be the first time that it has ever been offered for public sale and there’s little doubt that a Porsche enthusiast will be willing to pay a lot for the privilege of owning it.
