We’re looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the 2021 Ford Bronco in the future but, in the meantime, you can check out initial driving impressions from some of our colleagues.

It goes without saying the Bronco’s return has been highly anticipated and it’s already a hit as the company has received over 150,000 pre-orders. So does it live up to the hype? The answer appears to be yes.

While you can spend a couple hours watching the reviews, we’ll do a brief recap. Starting with Edmunds, they said the Bronco appears to be everything people hoped it would be. They added it combines real off-road capability with civilized road manners.

That’s a pretty common theme among the reviews, and many noted the Bronco offers more refinement than the Jeep Wrangler. The model was also praised for being more high-tech than its closest competitor and featuring a knockout design.

Furthermore, MotorWeek noted the entry-level 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine is plenty powerful as it produces 300 hp (224 kW / 304 PS) and 325 lb-ft (441 Nm) of torque when running on premium fuel. Of course, that’s not too surprising as the four-cylinder is more powerful than the Wrangler’s 3.6-liter V6 which develops 285 hp (213 kW / 289 PS) and 260 lb-ft (353 Nm) of torque.

That being said, the Wrangler offers a massive 6.4-liter V8 pumping out 470 hp (354 kW / 477 PS) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque. That slaughters the Bronco’s optional 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, which has a relatively modest 330 hp (246 kW / 335 PS) and 415 lb-ft (563 Nm) on premium gasoline.

All in all, the Bronco appears to be as good as everyone hoped. That’s good news as it seems the wait was worth it.
