When Ford unveiled the 2021 F-150 Raptor earlier this year, they said it would come with an updated 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that features state-of-the-art turbos, a 10.5:1 compression ratio and “new high-power fans built into the cooling system to ensure intense off-roading sessions never end too early.”
The lack of specifications raised the possibility that the 2021 F-150 Raptor would be more powerful than its predecessor, but it turns out that’s not the case. Instead, Car & Driver is reporting Ford has confirmed the truck continues to produce 450 hp (336 kW / 456 PS) and 510 lb-ft (691 Nm) of torque.

While that’s a bit disappointing, the numbers are nothing to sneeze at. Of course, they pale in comparison to the Ram 1500 TRX which has a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that produces 702 hp (523 kW / 712 PS) and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque that enables the high-performance pickup to rocket from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds, run the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph (174 km/h) and hit a top speed of 118 mph (190 km/h).
That being said, Ford has already confirmed there will be a Raptor R in 2022. It’s expected to a use a modified version of the supercharged 5.2-liter V8 that resides in the Mustang Shelby GT500. In the muscle car, this engine produces 760 hp (567 kW / 771 PS) and 625 lb-ft (847 Nm), so the Raptor R should be the true competitor to the TRX.
Besides revealing performance specs for the F-150 Raptor, the publication noted the truck will go up for order on June 10 with a sticker that starts at $65,840.
