Order books for the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray have officially opened in Australia and New Zealand.

The long-awaited sports car will be sold by General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) and be offered in a number of different flavors. Unique to the Australian and New Zealand markets is a limited-run variant known as the Carbon Edition.

The Carbon Edition is based on the 3LT Coupe and will be limited to just one example for each GMSV dealer across the two countries. Priced from AU$189,990 (US$146,539) before on-road costs in Australia, it includes 19-inch front and 20-inch rear Trident wheels with Spectra Grey accents, colored brake calipers, a carbon fiber roof, and a carbon fiber interior package with carbon trimmings across the dashboard and door panels.

Each Carbon Edition also includes a lighting package for the engine, a Carbon Edition build plate, and a unique customer welcome pack.

Supplies of the 2022 Corvette will initially be quite limited. In fact, just four vehicles are said to be allocated to each of Australia’s 57 GMSV dealerships, meaning buyers will need to get their orders in quickly or may have to wait until the 2023 model year.

“The long wait is over, the books are open and our dealers are ready to place orders,” GMSV director Joanne Stogiannis said in a statement. “Excitement and anticipation have been building since the reveal of the C8 right-hand drive program almost two years ago, even more so when we released recommended retail pricing for 2LT and 3LT models in late March.”

The C8 Corvette 2LT Coupe officially starts at AU$144,990 (US$111,830) but after on-road costs, statutory charges, and dealer delivery costs, some 2LT models will actually cost AU$187,990 (US$144,996). Other variants on offer include the 2LT Convertible, 3LT Coupe, and 3LT Convertible.
