The 2022 GMC Hummer EV pickup truck promises to be quite a phenomenal off-roader and an undisguised prototype was recently filmed on the streets of Detroit.

This video was filmed by the driver of a Ford Mustang who is absolutely stunned by seeing the new-age Hummer on the road. It looks massive and at one stage, the driver steps on the throttle and the vehicle instantly lurches forward and accelerates ahead of the Mustang.

The GM engineer behind the wheel was driving with the front roof panels removed and appeared quite pleased with all the attention that the electric pickup was getting. We don’t blame him as this thing truly looks impressive.

General Motors will initially sell the Hummer EV in flagship Edition 1 guise. This variant is powered by three electric motors that combine to produce 1,000 hp and 11,500 lb-ft (15,592 Nm) of torque. Those figures will allow the pickup to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in just three seconds when using the special ‘Watts to Freedom’ launch control feature. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, the vehicle should also have a range exceeding 350 miles (563 km).

The Hummer EV Edition 1 isn’t cheap, though, as it costs a cool $112,595. Fortunately, GMC will introduce a new variant with more affordable price every year until the spring of 2024. These include the Hummer EV 3X priced at $99,995, the 2X available from $89,995, and the base model that will start at $79,995.
