Toyota will bring the new GR 86 at the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed for its global dynamic debut, ahead of a European market launch in 2022.
The new 2022 GR 86 will become the third model in Toyota’s Gazoo Racing lineup, taking its place next to the GR Yaris and the GR Supra.
The new sports car will demonstrate its handling and agility on Goodwood’s famous hill course and will be on display at the event’s “First Glimpse” paddock. The 2021 Festival of Speed will take place between July 8 to 11 on the grounds of Goodwood House in West Sussex, UK.

The new generation of the RWD coupe retains the core character and mechanical layout of its predecessor but the new GR 86 adopts a more powerful engine and a significantly stiffer body shell to help it achieve even sharper handling.
Toyota stopped short of confirming the technical details of the GR 86 for the European market and said that more info will be released closer to the model’s launch in the region.
We already know that under the bonnet lies a larger 2.4-liter flat-four engine which in North America will offer 228 HP and 184 lb-ft (249 Nm) of torque, sending the new GR 86 from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in 6.1 seconds. In addition, the new engine produces its peak torque at 3,700 rpm, instead of the previous model’s 6,600 rpm, which should make a very noticeable improvement behind the wheel.
Unlike the previous Toyobaru twins, only the GR 86 will become available in Europe, as Subaru has already confirmed that the new BRZ won’t come to the old Continent.
