Spy photographers have caught the redesigned BMW 7-Series as a new report suggests the model will be previewed by a concept in September.
Starting with the latter, Automotive News Europe is reporting the automaker will use the Munich Motor Show to introduce a concept that previews the styling direction of their flagship sedan.
Details are limited, but it appears the concept won’t be a thinly veiled production model as only “key design elements” and the profile are expected to be similar. That’s open to interpretation, but we’ll remind you BMW used the 2014 Vision Future Luxury Concept to preview the styling direction of the six-generation 7-Series, which was introduced a year later.

The publication is also reporting the concept will become the first vehicle to ride on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform. The architecture is highly flexible and will be able to accommodate petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid, fuel cell and electric powertrains. It’s slated to replace the company’s current UKL and CLAR platforms starting in 2025.
While BMW is keeping the wraps on the concept, the latest spy photos suggest the 2023 7-Series will have an evolutionary design and a distinctive front end. Details are hard to make out, but it appears the model will have a supersized grille and lower headlights. We can also see an angular front bumper with pronounced supports.
Moving further back, the sedan adopts sleeker bodywork and an evolutionary greenhouse. There’s also a revised rear end with a four-tailpipe exhaust system and a license plate recess that moves from the trunk to the bumper.
Specifications are lacking, but we can expect six- and eight-cylinder engines as well as a plug-in hybrid variant. We can also expect an i7 to battle the Mercedes EQS and previous reports have suggested the EV could have 641 hp (478 kW / 650 PS) as well as a range of up to 435 miles (700 km).
