A study in the U.S. has revealed that Alfa Romeo drivers are the most likely to have a speeding ticket on their driving record.

Insurify crunched the numbers from its database of over 4 million car insurance applications and found that among all drivers in the United States, an average of 10.53 per cent have at least one speeding violation on their record. Alfa Romeo, Subaru, Volkswagen, Maserati, and RAM were the car makers with the most speeding tickets.

Data reveals that an average of 14.91 per cent of Alfa Romeo drivers have a speeding violation on their record, 41.45 per cent above the national average. The worst offender in the current Alfa Romeo range is the Giulia, with an average of 16.35 per cent of drivers reporting to have a speeding violation. By comparison, 12.08 per cent of Stelvio drivers have a speeding violation on their record.

In second was Subaru with 12.41 per cent of drivers reporting a speeding violation, 20.38 per cent above the national average. Unsurprisingly, the Subaru WRX was the worst offender with 20.03 per cent of drivers having been caught for speeding in the past. By comparison, just 6.76 per cent of Ascent drivers have been fined for speeding.

Over at VW, Golf GTI drivers are the most likely to be fined at 15.88 per cent while 9.12 per cent of Beetle drivers have a speeding violation. It is a similar story at Maserati where the performance-focused GranTurismo has the highest rate of speeding at 13.62 per cent among current Maserati models while drivers of the Quattroporte were least likely to speed (9.9%). Last but not least, Insurify’s figures revealed that 12.22 per cent of RAM drivers have a speeding violation, with 12.28 per cent for the Ram 1500 and 11.54 per cent for the Ram 2500.
