Alpha Motor Corporation (AMC) has revealed what it calls the future of electric mobility and adventure. The EV startup has partnered with Heimplanet to create a geodesic tent to go along with its Wolf+ electric pickup truck.

The tent is made by Heimplanet, a high-end camping equipment manufacturer from Germany. Many of its tents feature external structural components like the Cloudbreak tent seen here and are inflatable, making them compact and easy to put up.

This tent was designed to fit over the bed of the AMC Wolf+ pickup truck, and acts as a platform for relaxation or storage off the ground. It’s made of weatherproof materials like high tenacity polyester, which are also tear-resistant.

“Cloudbreak is a design we have been working on for quite a while,” said Stefan Clauss, co-founder of Heimplanet. “For the collaboration with Alpha Motor Corporation, we adapted the shape to fit the dimension of the vehicle while allowing for two separated access points. The result is a unified vehicle and tent form while maintaining full functionality.”

The tent is attached to the Wolf+, the larger of AMC’s pickup trucks. It features four doors – two full-size front and two suicide-like three-quarter-sized rear ones that allow access to a rear bench seat.

Based on the same platform as the JAX, a small electric sedan that the company is also building, the Wolf+ will get up to 275 miles of range thanks to an up-to 85 kWh battery pack. Power can either be sent to the front or all wheels.

“Our journey is grounded in coexistence with nature,” said Alpha Motor Corporation. “ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) will shape the future of the automotive industry, and upcycling is a key solution.”

The example shown here is finished in a shade called Carmel White, which AMC says is a nod to Carmel Beach in California. No pricing has been offered on the Cloudbreak tent, but AMC expects the Wolf+ to go for between $40,000 and $48,000. Deliveries aren’t expected to begin until at least 2023.
