Ferrari recently stopped producing the entry-level Portofino and now exclusively sells the car in its latest ‘M’ configuration. While it may not be the most beautiful car that Ferrari currently produces as Autocar recently discovered, it is still quite an impressive thing.
Powering the Ferrari Portofino M is the same 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 as the Roma, complete with a flat-plane crankshaft, that delivers 612 hp between 5,750 and 7,500 rpm and 560 lb-ft (760 Nm) of torque between 3,000 to 5,750 rpm. This means the Portofino M has 20 hp more than the standard model did and while that may not sound like much, it is quite an impressive gain considering Ferrari had the equip its new entry-level model with new petrol particulate filters to meet emissions regulations.

Ferrari has also fitted the car with its sixth-generation Side Slip Control vehicle dynamics system that integrates the E-Diff, F1-TCS, SCM-E Frs magnetorheological dampers, and the Ferrari Dynamic Enhance control systems.
Matt Prior notes that the Portofino M does share some driving characteristics to the Roma, even though it isn’t quite as sharp. He is also impressed with how it doesn’t even feel like a convertible when the roof is up, not something that you can say about all convertible sports cars and supercars out there.
The reviewer adds that the Portofino M feels more dynamic and geared towards performance than some other convertible models in its class, including the Bentley Continental GT, Mercedes-Benz SL, and Porsche 911 Cabriolet models that he says are more geared towards comfort.
