Get ready for an important teaser that’s coming soon from Dodge, as the company is preparing to release some “pretty interesting stuff” in the coming weeks.

“Tune in July 8,” Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis told Muscle Cars & Trucks, promising a teaser for a product whose reveal will follow. Unfortunately, we’re going to have to wait a little longer for the full reveal than Dodge wanted us to.

“We had something that we’re trying to get done in time to share right around the [August 14 Roadkill Nights] event,” Kuniskis said. “We’re probably going to push it to maybe SEMA-ish timeframe, but we will have some pretty interesting stuff July 8.”

With the 2021 SEMA Show planned for November 2-5, that’s a pretty substantial delay. Although Kunsikis doesn’t reveal the reasons for pushing the reveal back, delays relating to the pandemic and the chip shortage have been anything but rare this year.

Kuniskis did not reveal the nature of what was coming, either, but Dodge executives have been talking a lot about electrified muscle cars to the media for some time now. As recently as May, Dodge’s head of sales, Matt McAlear was promising to reinvent the muscle car.

“Everybody knows electrification is coming, we’ll reinvent the muscle car as far as Dodge is concerned,” said McAlear. “I’m extremely excited about where the future is going, but right now everybody is enjoying ‘the bachelor party.’ This is the last hurrah.”

In February, meanwhile, Stellantis’ Chief Design Officer Ralph Gilles said that the likeliest way for the American horsepower wars to crest the 1,000 hp mark was through hybrid power. Although what’s being revealed is not certain, it will be interesting to see if Dodge can beat its rivals Ford and Chevy to the punch with an electrified sports car.
