Refreshed 2022 Jaguar I-Pace Introduces New Infotainment System And Faster Charging

The Jaguar I-Pace has been updated, with the 2022 model year featuring several minor revisions to keep the British brand’s sole EV fresh.

However, if you’re in the UK or Europe, none of these changes will be new, as they’ve been present in those markets since June 2020, making the revised I-Pace long overdue for a US entry.

The 2022 I-Pace offers improvements to the ownership experience, most notably packing their latest infotainment system as well as offering owners faster recharges thanks to an upgraded onboard charger.

In the US, the 2022 I-Pace is now exclusively available in the highest-spec HSE trim. The revised line-up drops the S and SE trim levels, but to make up for it, Jaguar USA has cut the price of the 2022 I-Pace HSE on par with the base 2020 S. Previously the HSE was available starting from $80,900, whereas it will now be offered from $69,900 (excluding delivery).

The 2022 I-Pace features Jaguar’s Pivi Pro infotainment system. Pivi Pro offers Andriod Auto and Apple CarPlay integration as standard, while the interface has been designed to be akin to that of a smartphone. With the new infotainment system, the I-Pace can receive OTA updates, which tie into its enhanced navigation abilities. This will allow drivers to see charge points along their routes, with predicted on-arrival charge levels displayed at waypoints and destinations.

Other interior niceties include cabin air ionization featuring PM2.5 filtration to capture ultrafine airborne particles. You also get a Meridian 3D sound system, a 360-degree surround camera system as standard, and Jaguar’s ClearSight rearview mirror which displays a video feed into the traditional interior mirror that can be switched between digital camera input and traditional reflection.

But perhaps most relevant in a real-world usage scenario is the improved charge times afforded by the 11 kW onboard charger. The new charger replaces the 7 kW one of the outgoing model and cuts recharge time from 12.6 hours to fully recharge a dead battery to 8.6. As before, connecting to a 100-kW DC charger will replenish up to 63 miles of range in 15 minutes.

Styling-wise, you get a choice of revised colors, while there’s a new Atlas Grey finish to the grille. Optional for the 2022 model is a “Bright Pack,” which includes a chrome grille surround, Atlas Grey mirror caps, satin chrome window surrounds, and an Atlas Grey rear diffuser. Additionally, the existing Black Pack now extends its black finish to the rear badges.

Performance stays the same, with 394 hp and 512 lb-ft of torque from the dual motor set-up and an acceleration time from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds. Although there are no EPA range figures for the 2022 model yet, Jaguar hasn’t mentioned any changes to the battery or motor, making it likely that the 2020/2021 I-Pace’s range of 234 miles will carry over to the 2022 model.
