The Lamborghini Aventador is one of the most iconic supercars launched in the last 10 years and when lined up alongside a Dodge Durango, you’d think it would have no problem leaving the SUV in its dust. Which would definitely be the case if this was a stock Durango – but it isn’t.
For starters, this Durango is the potent SRT Hellcat variant that features a 6.2-liter supercharged V8. That alone would make it a legitimate straight-line rival to the Aventador but Hennessey Performance has made this example even more potent.

The SUV is rocking the Texas tuner’s HPE1000 package that delivers a cool 1,012 hp at 6,500 rpm and 969 lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpm. It includes an upgraded high-flow supercharger, front and rear drive pulley upgrade, crank damper pin assembly upgrade, upgraded thermostat, heavy duty supercharger belt, upgraded spark plugs, high-flow fuel injectors, a high-flow filtration system, crank case ventilation system, and ECU upgrade, and has been extensively tested and tuned on the dyno.
To see just how potent the super SUV is, Hennessey lined it up alongside an Aventador.
Off the line, the tuned Durango SRT Hellcat has a clear advantage over the Aventador and continues to pull away as the speeds increase. Admittedly, the driver of the Aventador wasn’t using launch control, impacting its ability to get off the line.
Hennessey is building just 50 examples of its Durango SRT HPE1000 and provides each with a two-year, 24,000-mile warranty.
