Manhart has unveiled a tweaked version of the Land Rover Defender that it dubs the DP 500.

While the new Land Rover Defender was designed to be the ultimate off-roader, the truth is that most owners won’t actually drive it along difficult off-road terrain. As such, Manhart’s modified example focuses on on-street performance, rather than trying to improve its off-road abilities.

The tuner started off with a Defender P400 AWD variant that features a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder that typically produces 400 hp and 405 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. A simple remap of the ECU lifts power to 512 hp and 524 lb-ft (710 Nm) of torque, meaning it has roughly the same amount of power as the supercharged 5.0-liter Defender sold by Land Rover.

Elsewhere, Manhart has fitted a stainless steel exhaust system offered with either carbon or ceramic-coated tailpipes. Customers can also option upgraded brakes and have Manhart lower the standard air suspension by 30 mm.

The looks of the Defender have also been tweaked with the fitment of 24-inch wheels wrapped in 295/30 tires. Should buyers not want such massive wheels, smaller 22-inch does are also offered with 295/40 tires. Manhart also offers to paint the engine cover and fender extensions in gloss black and can also fit a decal set.

A handful of tweaks have also been made to the interior, including the fitment of new Alcantara and leather components. Manhart also offers a unique set of Recaro seats for the driver and front passenger.
