Mythbusters had an impressive run as the original series aired between 2003-2016 and developed a cult-like following.

That success has spawned a handful of spinoffs and the latest is Motor Mythbusters, which will premiere on the MotorTrend App on August 4th.

While Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman won’t be part of the show, it will star Mythbusters alumni Tory Belleci. He’ll be joined by engineer and professional race car driver Bisi Ezerioha as well as mechanic Faye Hadley from MotorTrend’s All Girls Garage.

Little is known about the series at this point, but it “searches for truth behind popular automotive myths through a mixture of scientific method, lively curiosity and plain old-fashioned ingenuity.” It will also explore a number of automotive myths ranging from urban legends to viral videos to myths generated from movies.

Among them will be “Ferris Bueller dialing back the odometer,” and an “attempt to confirm or debunk a DIY modification involving a bottle of nitrous, a soda can tab and some wire from the Fast and Furious 8.” The series will also explore the practicality of The Flintstones car and the “aerodynamics of chopping off your car’s top to increase its top speed.”

The series sounds interesting and should appeal to enthusiasts as well as fans of the original series. Of course, you’ll need to sign up for the MotorTrend App to watch it and it’s a streaming service that costs $4.99 a month or $44.99 a year. That being said, you can also snag a seven-day free trial just to check it out.
