Porsche is reportedly considering a smaller electric sedan model to go after EVs like the Tesla Model 3 and the BMW i4.
The German carmaker is currently evaluating a proposal to use the PPE platform that will underpin the upcoming A4 E-Tron EV. The Taycan’s smaller sibling might even take the Cajun name that was first trademarked by Porsche in 2011.

The business case for what could become Porsche’s third all-electric model is quite strong, as the Cajun can share many key components with the upcoming Macan EV, including the platform, battery, and powertrain.
“The modular nature of the PPE platform will allow us to extend our electric car line-up with a range of different models. It is engineered for standard and high ground clearance. A second sedan model is one possibility,” said an unnamed Porsche engineer to Autocar.
Audi and Porsche have worked together on the development of the E-Tron GT and Taycan, while currently, the two carmakers are jointly developing the electric Macan and Q6 E-Tron.
If it gets the green light, the proposed Porsche Cajun is expected to offer the option of single- and dual-motor configurations.
However, the decision on whether Porsche is going to produce a smaller electric sedan than the Taycan is still pending, but the same report says that the German carmaker is already expanding its production capacity at its Leipzig factory with a 600-million-euro investment quoting inside sources. That expansion should be enough to host the production of a seventh model line and will allow Porsche to build petrol, hybrid, and all-electric powertrains on a single production line.
