Porsche has issued a recall that impacts a number of Taycan and Panamera models in the United States.
A recall notice issued with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reveals that a front lower trailing arm can fracture and fail. The German car manufacturer was alerted about the defect in mid-March when it was informed about three vehicles with broken suspension trailing arms.

After investigating, Porsche discovered that because of a supplier production issue, the front lower trailing arms may not have been forged to specification. If the trailing arm fractures, the driver may experience a loss of control. Porsche adds that the trailing arm may break without warning with an audible cracking noise. Loud grinding and rattling noises may also occur and the steering wheel could be misaligned up to 45 degrees during braking.
The recall impacts 565 2021 Taycan, Panamera, Panamera Turbo S, Panamera GTS, Panamera 4, Panamera 4 Sport Turismo, Panamera 4 Executive, Panamera 4S Executive, Panamera 4S, Panamera 4S E-Hybrid, and Panamera 4 E-Hybrid models, all from the 2021 model year.
To fix the problem, dealerships will replace the front lower trailing arms with new ones produced to specification. Porsche will notify owners of the impacted vehicles by July 16 and carry out repairs free of charge.
This isn’t the first time the Taycan has been recalled in recent months. In March, the electric sedan was recalled alongside certain 911, Cayman, and Boxster models because of a threaded connection within the suspension system that could fail.
