Since its premiere, the Toyota GR 86 has attracted the interest of Japanese tuners who are competing to offer owners the best customization options. SARD, who specializes in tuning and racing with Toyota models, presented the GR 86 GT1 concept, previewing their upcoming tuning kit for the rear-wheel drive sportscar.
Compared to the modifications offered for the previous generation Toyota GT 86, the bodykit for the new GR 86 has evolved in design for a cleaner look. The redesigned bumper features an elongated central intake above the pronounced but also neatly integrated splitter, triangular side intakes, and a badgeless nose.
The side sill extension is extended towards the front and rear fenders forming a visual connection with the bumpers. The white shade of the body and the aero parts create a contrast with the dark-finish 18-inch BBS RE-V7 aluminum rims shod in 245/35R18 Bridgestone Potenza tires.

Moving over at the back, we find new taillights with black background and round LED graphics, two very large tailpipes, and a low-positioned rear wing made of carbon fiber. Inside there is a titanium shift knob, red leather on the bucket seats with SARD badges on the headrests, and red footwells.
While the company doesn’t mention the list of mechanical upgrades, it could have a few things up its sleeve. Judging from previous offerings the GR 86 might benefit from a Torsen limited-slip differential allowing for more traction. The obviously lowered and stiffer suspension improves handling and lowers the center of gravity.
As for a power increase, while nothing is official yet we would love to see a turbo kit like the previous-gen SARD Toyota 86 GT3 Concept. This one had a BorgWarner EFR turbocharger, custom downpipe, titanium exhaust, and a new radiator/intercooler increasing the previous 2.0-liter engine’s power output to around 300 hp (304 PS / 224 kW). As a reminder, the stock car’s new, naturally aspirated 2.4-liter flat-four engine produces 232 hp (235 PS / 173 kW) and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque, allowing for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration in 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 149 mph (240 km/h).
