In a world where forced induction is becoming the norm, the new Lexus IS 500 is a breath of fresh air.
Like other Lexus models, including the LC 500, RC F, and GS F, the IS 500 features the brand’s 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 developing 472 hp at 7,100 rpm and 395 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 rpm. Customer deliveries haven’t yet started, but a YouTuber recently had the opportunity to ride shotgun in a new IS 500 around a racetrack.
Those that have driven a Lexus model with this same basic V8 in recent years will know just how good it sounds and this video confirms that in the IS 500, it delivers the same intoxicating soundtrack.

During this video, professional driver Townsend Bell also showcases the handling abilities of the car and even though it may not have an F badge, it looks right at home being pushed to its limits as it chases down a Toyota Supra.
Coupled to the V8 is an eight-speed automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels and allowing the IS 500 to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in an impressive 4.5 seconds.
Other updates made to the sedan include the fitment of F Sport’s Dynamic Handling Package that includes adaptive variable suspension and tweaked steering, as well as 14-inch two-piece aluminum disc brakes at the front and 12.7-inch discs at the rear.
