The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is a serious performer but the owner of this particular example decided he wanted more power.
The muscle car relies on a massive supercharger to deliver its performance. However, this Shelby GT500 has been fitted with a pair of turbochargers that have a transformative effect on how much power the 5.2-liter V8 can churn out.

When initially running on just 5 psi of boost, the GT500 pumped out 711 hp and 540 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels. As the tuners began to increase the boost, the muscle car’s horsepower and torque figures continued to climb. With 7 psi of boost it had 768 hp and 571 lb-ft while on 12 psi of boost it was pumping out 944 hp and 691 lb-ft, and when increased to 17 psi, it delivered 1,145 hp and 817 lb-ft of torque.
Last but not least, with 20.5 psi of boost, the car makes a remarkable 1,252 hp and 867 lb-ft of torque.
There’s no doubt that all of this extra grunt will have a transformative effect on how the car drives and performs. The video doesn’t include any performance testing but with some sticky drag radial tires, this GT500 might be able to storm down the quarter-mile in the 8- or 9-second range.
