When it was new, most BMW 1602 models featured a 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder engine pumping out approximately 84 hp at 5,700 rpm and 96 lb-ft (130 Nm) of torque. While those figures were more than adequate when the car was launched, Electric Classic Cars decided it needed some more power.

As such, it features a Netgain Hyper 9 electric motor with 120 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque and at the front, has eight 2.5 kWh LG Chem battery modules. This electric motor is mated to the standard transmission and while you can manually change the gears, the presenter notes that you can get away with simply using second and third gears for typical everyday driving. An additional eight 2.5 kWh LG Chem battery modules are found in the trunk.

A plethora of modifications have also been made to the cabin of the car, including the fitment of lovely red leather and black leather components and a new polished steering wheel. There is also a new gauge cluster and a modern aftermarket infotainment screen.
