We live in a divided world. Left vs right, toilet paper hung over vs under, Wrangler vs Bronco, and there are other conflicts as well, I’m told. But this Bronco owner is bravely combining classic enemies into one neat vehicle to show the world what unity looks like.

You see, this first-generation Bronco shared with the internet by Doug DeMuro is not what it at first appears to be. As the interior would suggest and a CarFax report of the vehicle confirms, this is actually a 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon underneath.

Although I’m sure that the purists (and the Jeep employees) in the audience will have some objections to this child born out of beadlock, the conversion looks pretty good to me. The mismatched top of the door to the top of the dash notwithstanding, the few pictures available of this thing make its overall proportions and attitudes feel about right.

I’m a fan of ’60s interiors, so I do understand the appeal of keeping an old car original, but a Wrangler’s interior does have a rugged outdoorsiness that feels right at home in an off-roader. And although this conversion also makes me appreciate how well Ford did at interpreting the Bronco aesthetic for the modern automotive world, if it were 2018 and the Bronco still a distant uncertainty, this would appeal to me enormously.

Fortunately, the comments on this post appear to be pretty good-natured and amusing. For example, @DodgeOwner69 asks why anyone would ruin the trade-in value of a Wrangler like that, while @Don_C_England thinks that a Chevy small block is the perfect way to anger everyone equally. And isn’t that what progress looks like?
