The GMC Hummer EV’s debut marked the return of the Hummer nameplate, as well as GM’s first electric pickup truck. It’s a very important vehicle for them, and it seems to be so popular that one person created their own functioning Lego model of it.
The truck was made by an industrious creator on YouTube who’s also built detailed Lego versions of the Jeep Wrangler and BMW i8. First and foremost, aside from everything else his Hummer is capable of, it downright looks the part. All the proportions are correct, details like the wheels, lights, and grille are all accurate, and it even has the truck’s removable roof. Other features include a full interior, a multifunction tailgate, and a hydraulic tonneau cover.

But probably the most impressive thing about this model is its functionality. For one thing, it runs and drives under its own electric power, which also makes it true to the full-size version. It also has a working coil spring suspension, as well as height-adjustable “air” suspension that raises and lowers by way of a set of gears. Last but not least, the miniature Hummer even has the original’s Crab Walk feature and is capable of both modes: all four wheels turning in the same direction, or each axle turning in the opposite direction.
Overall, the detail, technology, and creativity that went into this model is astounding. We would love to see Lego make a model like this that we’d be able to buy and build ourselves, and fortunately, this Hummer is on Lego Ideas, which means if it gets enough support, it could become a reality.
