Just a day after Honda released three teaser images of the new Civic Hatch, a couple of renderings putting the spotlight on the shaded image of the new car have hit the web.

These renderings are based on the teasers and come courtesy of the CivicXI forums. While simple, they provide us with an accurate look at the all-new design of the Civic Hatch that will be unveiled on June 23 at 6 p.m. PDT.

Much like the outgoing generation of Civic, the roofline of the hatchback is significantly different than the sedan. The roof flows down dramatically and like the current model, there is a pronounced sharkfin antenna on the roof. The most obvious difference between this new Civic Hatch and the outgoing one is the simplified rear window which is no longer split by a lip spoiler. In addition, we can see that the taillights of the new model will be more conservative than its predecessor.

Speaking more generally, the design of the new Civic Hatch appears more mature and is less flamboyant than its predecessor. This is especially evident along the sides where the old car’s complex lines and creases have been replaced by a single line stretching from the headlights to the taillights.

We expect Honda to sell the hatchback with the same array of engines as the sedan. This will mean the range starts with a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder with 158 hp and 138 lb-ft of torque. Customers will also be offered a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 180 hp and 177 lb-ft. The Civic hatch family will be topped out by a new Type R model. Interestingly, Honda will also offer a six-speed manual gearbox on the hatch too.

Honda will build the new Civic Hatch at its factory in Greensburg, Indiana.
